When will Echo Mountain officially close?
We will remain open and fully operational through October 1, 2025. After that date, we will no longer conduct recording sessions. From October through December 31, 2025, we will be winding down operations and liquidating equipment.

Why is Echo Mountain closing?
After nearly 20 years of recording music in Asheville, we’ve made the difficult decision to close at the end of 2025. The recording industry is changing, and after decades in the business, our owner, Steve Wilmans, has decided this is the right time to step away to focus on family. Rather than continue with plans to open a new studio, we’re closing this chapter with gratitude and making sure our team is taken care of in the transition.

Can I still book a session?
Yes! We are open and taking bookings until October 1, 2025. If you’ve been thinking about recording at Echo Mountain, now is the time.

What happens to the building?
The studio space was purchased in early 2024 by GBX Group, a company specializing in historic preservation. We don’t yet know what their long-term plans are, but we trust they will honor the property’s rich history.

What will happen to the equipment?
Between October and December 2025, we will be liquidating equipment. Stay tuned for updates if you’re interested in purchasing any pieces of Echo Mountain’s history.

What will happen to the Echo Mountain team?
Our biggest priority is making sure our team is taken care of. Everyone will be employed through the end of the year and then receive severance packages. We’ll be supporting them as they transition into new opportunities within the industry and beyond.

Will there be any events or celebrations before the closure?
Yes! We plan to celebrate Echo Mountain’s legacy and will share details as those plans come together. Follow us on social media for updates.

How can I stay updated?
Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for the latest news as we move through this transition.

How can I support Echo Mountain and its team?
The best way to support us is by booking sessions before we close and celebrating the incredible music made here. If you’re a fan of the studio, please share your stories and memories with us on social media and email—we’d love to hear them!
